Case Study 1

Insurance Company Ltd declared that they would no longer write new business and would be running their business down to extinction. As part of this process they needed to analyse their systems, calculate their laibilities and produce proposals to commute the remaining business with their policy holders. Obviously, their mainframes were not designed to undertake this type of work and Mill House were invited to build a bespoke application that would provide the necessary controls and reporting to make this happen. The application was completed within months, Mill House cleansed the necessary data prior to loading and the company wound down it's liability of £400m within 3 years.

Case Study 2

Another Insurance Company Ltd had an aged debt problem going back many years. They decided to bring in a team to reconcile and report on progress, collecting funds or writing off where appropriate. The existing systems had no provision for such a task and their auditors insisted that the project be strictly controlled with targets imposed. Again, Mill House were invited to build a system, that was fed the Trial Balance directly from the mainframe, in which the team could report progress on individual transactions and perform a variety of tasks within strict parameters and controls. The auditors have been overwhelmed by the progress made and the level of reporting available which was in no small part made possible by Mill House's application.
